Director Luka Guadagnino recently reacted to his upcoming Meetu-Theime film ‘After the Hunt’ being anti-feminism during a press conference. He said that such interpretations can eliminate “Anand to watch film”.
In an interview with the variety, Guadagnino defended his film. He emphasized that calling the film ‘anti-feminism’ is “a little normal”. The director said, “Can I say anything? Two things: One, how can the film with these highly powerful female characters be called anti-feminism?”
He added, “The second thing I want to say: historically, as we know, feminism has passed through many places around the world and has promoted amazing progressive thinking in history, but has also created many different waves of feminism.”

Guadagnino further saidBut what I want to say is that it is a little normal to call something anti-feminism, and at the same time it is devoid of the joy of watching the film, because watch this film and enjoy the story of these people. Do not think about anything that is not present historical, socially, philosophically. So this is a lazy question.
The film based on the world of higher education, in which Roberts is playing the role of a popular philosophy professor, revolves around an allegation of misconduct. His mentor, played by Ayo Edabiri, is accused of crossing the border, his friend and colleague, who plays actor Andrew Garfield. Michael Stuelberg and Chloe Savigni also stars the film in the lead roles.

Roberts had earlier reacted to the film’s criticism at the Venice International Film Festival. According to the Variety report, he highlighted “disappearing the art of interaction in humanity”. The actor quoted as saying, “I don’t think it revives the old arguments of women to raise against each other.”
In 2024, Gwadagnino’s ‘Quir’, starring actor Daniel Craig, also premiered at the Venice International Film Festival.‘After the Hunt’ is scheduled to release in theaters on October 10, 2025.
