Bengaluru is once again in the headlines for its traffic problems and soon the situation may be even more difficult for daily travelers. Bengaluru is already taken to heavy tafrics, can face even more crowds from October 1. Many private companies located on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) have decided to work from home and abolish the hybrid system, making full -time office attendance mandatory. Although the move aims to increase productivity, it has also created concerns about how the crowds already crowded will face this extra pressure. Many employees are concerned with long travel period and increasing stress, while some people are questioning whether the traffic department has been informed about this change.

Impact on traffic and increase in number of vehicles

Bangalore Traffic Police (BTP) data shows that the entry into 26 major technical parks with ORR has increased by 45 percent compared to the same month of June last year. This growth was particularly acute on Wednesday, when more than 1,20,000 vehicles entered the region in a single day, which was more than 82,000 in June 2024. This growth is mainly due to employees using private vehicles due to compulsory presence in the office. In addition to the Outer Ring Road, congestion is expected to increase on other major routes in Bengaluru in the coming months. Roads leading to Sarjapur Road and Electronics City may also face heavy traffic as more companies are insisting on returning to office.
