Khalistani organizations have again started raising their heads amidst normal corporate relations between India and Canada. The recent threat of the siege of the Indian Consulate in Vancouver, Canada, by the banned terrorist organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has once again raised concerns among the Indian security agencies. According to officials of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), this threat is part of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), especially during India’s Operation Sindoor, is part of a comprehensive psychological war strategy run by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Although SFJ is known for inflammatory rhetoric under its psychological campaigns, Indian security agencies are not taking this threat lightly. Intelligence information suggests that Khalistani organizations located in countries like Canada and Britain are increasing frustration, as India, especially their attempts to create their hold in Punjab, have failed repeatedly. Despite lack of support at the ground level, these groups are increasing their activities abroad.

The Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) on Thursday announced the ‘siege’ of the Indian Consulate (Consulate) in Venkuvar. The SFJ has appealed to the citizens not to go to the embassy that day. The group has also released a poster in which the new Indian High Commissioner has targeted the picture of Dinish Patnaik. They allege that the Indian embassy keeps an eye on Khalistani supporters. The SFJ claims that the Canada Police had to put Nijjar successor Inderjit Singh Gosal in ‘Witness Protection’. However, India has dismissed these allegations outright. In view of the demonstrations of Khalistani organizations, security of the Indian Consulate at Venkuvar has been increased.
Venkuvar is the largest center of Khalistani activities
Sikhs for Justice has chosen Venkuvar for this ‘siege campaign’ because it is considered a stronghold of Khalistani activities. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was also murdered in June 2023 outside the gurudwara in Surrey in the British Columbia province, which caused great dissatisfaction among the supporters of Khalistan. The Indian Embassy in Venkuvar has been targeted by him for a long time. The message from Venkuvar will have more impact internationally, as it is a major center of Khalistani movement and a large number of Punjabi migrants live here.
