Infrastructure in Indian development journey has always been a carrier of change. Just as roads, rail and electricity gave rise to industrial revolution, similarly airports in modern India have become not only facilities for travelers, but have become engines to speed up the economy of the entire region. On October 30, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Noida International Airport (NIA), the incident will not only be inaugurated by one project, but the new identity of Uttar Pradesh will begin.
If seen, till a few decades ago, Uttar Pradesh was considered backward in terms of investment and industrial development. But since coming to power in 2017, Yogi Adityanath’s leadership and active policies of the Center have changed this picture. Projects like Defense Corridor, Ganga Expressway, Purvanchal and Bundelkhand Expressway have given UP a leading place in the list of investors. Now the inauguration of Noida Airport is going to give a decisive place to this journey. If seen, this airport will not only expand air traffic, but will give a new flight to the state’s economy. There is no doubt that Uttar Pradesh is now towards becoming the new stronghold of investment, industry and tourism.

If we look at the nature of the airport and the future capacity, then let us tell you that Noida Airport is being developed in four stages. In the first phase, a runway and terminal with an annual capacity of 1.2 crore passengers are ready. By the last phase, it will be one of the largest airports in India to handle 7 crore passengers. Not only this, about 60 lakh passengers will travel from here in the first year of inauguration. It is important that it will also be developed as a cargo hub. For industrial units of Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh, it will provide direct connection to global supply chain. In addition, passengers and airlines have got a new option as passenger pressure is already at its peak at Delhi Airport. In such a situation, Noida Airport will bring relief for passengers.
The first phase from Noida Airport will get direct flights from metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kolkata. International flights will also be operated in future. IndiGo Airlines has been launched a launch career and Akasa Air has announced to use it as a hub. This will not only facilitate passengers, but will also be a big opportunity for airlines.
If we look at the direct impact on the economy of Uttar Pradesh from Noida Airport, the construction and operation of the airport will generate millions of jobs at both direct and indirect levels. New possibilities will open in security, ground handling, hotels, tourism, transport and logistics areas.
Apart from this, UP will now be equipped with world class air facility. For foreign companies, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway will become a favorite destination for industrial area investment. IT, manufacturing and automobile companies will come here and expand their businesses. Also, religious and historical sites like Agra, Mathura and Vrindavan will now be in easy reach for global tourists. It will take the religious tourism and cultural industry to new heights.
Apart from this, farmers of Uttar Pradesh will be able to reach their produce directly to the international market. Export of fruits, vegetables and milk products will be easy. This will also give a big incentive to the food processing and cold storage industry. Also, e-commerce companies in NCR-Amazon, Flipkart or other global players will further strengthen their supply chain through Noida Airport. UP can gradually become a logistics hub of North India.
If seen, Delhi-NCR is now counted among the major economic sectors of Asia. But its air facility had long been dependent on Delhi Airport for a long time. Noida Airport will divide this pressure and give people alternative and convenient options. This will benefit corporate companies from Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. Also, districts like Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura and Agra will get employment and industrial opportunities. The traffic burden of Delhi Airport will be reduced. That is, this airport will provide the entire NCR another engine of development.
Let us also tell you that Noida Airport is not only large in size, but its design and safety standards are also world class. It has more than 350 high-resolution CCTV cameras and electric fencing. There is 24X7 monitoring from Unified Security Operation Center. Inline is a baggage screening, full-body scanner and automated tray retrieval system. Also, the crime prevention is a structure based on the Through Environmental Design. This will give passengers safe, fast and comfortable traveling experience. Certainly this airport will give a new direction to the aviation sector of India and will make Uttar Pradesh a global destination of investment.
Overall, the inauguration of Noida International Airport is not just a physical structure inauguration. This is the new chapter of India’s development saga. Uttar Pradesh, which was once considered industrially backward, is now ready to take a new flight. The Modi-Yogi leadership has given NCR a second international airport and gave the public the gift of economic empowerment. This will be full of foreign investment in the state’s economy, millions of jobs will be created and tourism, agriculture and industry will all get momentum. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Noida Airport is a 21st century transformative symbol for Uttar Pradesh. This airport will not only facilitate passengers but will also provide the state a leading place in global competition.
As far as the inauguration of Noida Airport is concerned, let us tell you that Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjrapu Ram Mohan Naidu has said that Noida International Airport will be inaugurated on October 30 and flying operations are expected to start after 45 days.
