Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s strategic defense agreement! New geopolitical challenge for India, every step eye

According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry and the Government Saudi Press Agency, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday signed a defense agreement stating, “The purpose of the agreement … the purpose of the two countries is to develop aspects of defense cooperation and strengthen joint resistance against any invasion.”

After a strategic agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the two countries have agreed to jointly respond to any invasion, India on Thursday said that it is keeping a close watch on the development and will take all the necessary steps to protect its national interests and ensure “comprehensive national security in all fields”. In response to media questions, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said, “We will study the impacts of this development along our national security as well as regional and global stability. The government is committed to protect India’s national interests and ensure comprehensive national security in all fields.”

The agreement, called a strategic mutual defense agreement, was signed on Wednesday during the state visit of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to Saudi Arabia. The incident took place immediately after a summit in Doha, in which 40 Islamic countries including Pakistan participated, where the leaders stressed the alliance such as NATO after the Israel’s attack on Hamas leaders in Qatar last week. Significantly, Pakistan is the only Islamic country with nuclear weapons.

According to the mutual defense agreement signed by the two countries, the attack on any one would be considered an attack on both. According to some media reports, the agreement has also opened Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal to Saudi Arabia.A statement published by the Saudi Press Agency said, “The purpose of the agreement is to develop aspects of defense cooperation between the two countries and strengthen joint resistance against any invasion.”

India said that it was aware of the development and admitted that the mutual defense agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan has been working for some time.

Jaiswal said, “We have seen reports of the signing of a strategic mutual defense agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The government was aware that the agreement, which formalize a long -term agreement between the two countries, was under consideration.”

The agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia becomes even more important amidst the Khatas in the relationship between Islamabad and New Delhi after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
