Rajnath Singh’s call: Army will become ‘tech-friendly’, preparations for future wars intensifies

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has called for the armed forces to go beyond the traditional concepts of war and be alert and prepared to deal with invisible challenges arising out of unconventional threats like information, ideological, ecological and biological war. Addressing the Joint Commanders’ Conference 2025 in Kolkata, West Bengal on 16 September, the Defense Minister emphasized the need for restless global system, regional instability and emerging safety scenario, the changes that are happening around the world and their continuous assessment of their continuous assessment on the country’s security system.

Rajnath Singh insisted that the nature of war is constantly developing, and recent global conflicts have underlined the relevance of a “technology-friendly” army. He said that today’s war is so sudden and unpredictable that it is very difficult to estimate their period. It can be two months, one year or five years. We need to be ready. We need to ensure that our capacity remains enough.

Describing the defense sector of India as a combination of aggressive and defensive capabilities, the Defense Minister called upon the commanders to adopt an active approach and to try to build the Sudarshan Chakra in accordance with Prime Minister Modi’s hypothesis. He said that a committee has been formed to investigate the project and prepare a “realistic action plan”. He suggested a medium period for the next five years to realize this hypothesis and a long -term plan for the next ten years.

Highlighting that the country’s defense sector focuses on modernization, operational readiness, technical superiority and reliable resistance, Rajnath Singh called for focusing on the mantra of “Jai (Jai (jointness, self -reliance and innovation))” in the opening session of the conference on 15 September 2025. Singh advocated intensive association with industry and education in the development of technologies prepared for the future. He confirmed Prime Minister Modi’s vision to further enhance the role of the private sector in creating a strong defense innovation ecosystem and making the domestic industry the largest and best in the world.
