Mumbai Rain Update | IMD’s yellow alert in Mumbai, flooding on roads due to torrential rains overnight, slowing down the speed of local trains.

Heavy rains in Mumbai started late Sunday night and continued till the morning of September 15, 2025, causing heavy waterlogging and traffic jams in many parts of the city. According to the news related to rain in Mumbai, the intensity of rain remained at the peak between 2:00 am and 5:30 am.
 

IMD’s yellow alert in Mumbai

After overnight rains in the city, the Indian Meteorological Department on Monday issued heavy rains an alert in Pune and surrounding areas Thane, Raigad and Mumbai. According to the warning issued by the IMD, Pune, Raigad, Satara and Aurangabad are likely to be splashing with heavy rains and thunderstorms, for which an orange alert has been issued. At the same time, a yellow alert of heavy rains has been issued for Mumbai, city and suburban areas and Thane.

Life is disturbed by waterlogging in many areas

Heavy rains in Mumbai led to waterlogging in the metropolis and low -lying areas of the suburbs, affecting traffic in busy times. After heavy rains overnight and in the morning, the tracks were flooded at Kurla station of Central Railway and Bandra station of Western Railway.

Local trains slow down

According to officials, local trains are running some delays. According to local officials, heavy rains started with thunderstorms around midnight continued in the morning, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas and other places like Kings Circle.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Colaba received the highest 88.2 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am to 5:30 pm on Sunday, followed by 82 mm in Bandra and 73 mm in Bhaiyakhala.

Mahul Tata Power Station received 70.5 mm of rainfall, while Juhu recorded 45.0 mm of rain. An IMD official said that Santa Cruz and Mahalakshmi received relatively low, 36.6 mm and 36.5 mm respectively.
