The name ‘Androt’ has a strategic and symbolic significance as it is taken from the ‘Andot’ of the Lakshadweep archipelago, which outlines India’s commitment to the safety of its vast maritime regions. Officials said that the ship, about 77 meters length, is the largest Indian Navy warships operating with a combination of ‘Diesel Engine-Wotergate’, which are equipped with state-of-the-art light ‘Torpedo’ and indigenous submarine anti-war rockets.
The Navy said in its statement, the delivery of ‘Androt’ is another important milestone towards the creation of an indigenous warship of the Indian Navy, which supports the government’s self -sufficient India’s approach. This warship is not only a proof of the rising level of domestic abilities with more than 80 percent indigenous materials but also a major sign towards reducing dependence on imports.
