Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated a new ethanol plant at Numaligarh in Golaghat district of Assam at a cost of more than Rs 5,000 crore. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were also present on the occasion. Prior to this inauguration, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of several projects in Darang.
Developed Assam, Developed India
Addressing a public meeting in Numaligarh, PM Modi said that today is very important for the Gaurav Yatra of ‘Developed Assam, Developed India’. He informed that Assam has received projects worth about Rs 18,000 crore today, which will give impetus to the development of the state.

New revolution in energy ‘Assam’
PM Modi said that Assam is a state to increase India’s energy power, and petroleum products here play an important role in the development of the country. He said that the new bio-ethanol plant which has been inaugurated will create ethanol from bamboo, which is a matter of pride for Assam. Apart from this, a polypropylene plant has also been laid. According to the PM, these projects will promote industries in Assam, create new opportunities for youth and farmers, and are a major step towards making India self -sufficient in energy.

Direct attack on Congress
In his address, PM Modi attacked the Congress fiercely. He said that the Congress ruled Assam and the entire country for a long time, but during his reign, the pace of development was slow and the legacy was also in crisis. He said, “The Congress gave separation, violence and controversies to Assam and North-East, while BJP’s double engine government is empowering the old identity of Assam.”
He said that this is his government which gave the Assamese language the status of classical language and honored the legacy of Lachit Borfukan. The PM claimed that the BJP government is making Assam rich in both development and heritage.
