The Bihar government has taken a big step to promote scraping of old and unusable vehicles. The Transport Department has decided to give tax exemption of up to 50 percent to the owners of private vehicles more than 15 years old. Along with this, a 50 percent tax exemption on commercial vehicles has also been announced.

Pre -given discount
The state government is already giving many concessions to the vehicle owners who have scored scraping. Certificates received after scraping, registration of new vehicles on the basis of COD and vehicle owners are being given a lump sum exemption in the outstanding tax. Along with this, there is a provision to give outright exemption in earlier liabilities and fine on old vehicles. 90 percent discount is being given in non -transport and transport vehicle liabilities and 100 percent in fine.

Scraping process for private vehicles
Vehicle owners will have to apply on the portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for scraping for private vehicles. After the application, RVSF Center will purchase and scrap the vehicle. There are two scraping centers available for this in Bihar – Nilium scraping center in Patna and SK Enterprises at Vaishali.
