At least 12 soldiers were killed in an attack by the Pakistani Taliban in north-west Pakistan. According to a local government official, during a military convoy passing through the South Waziristan district at 4:00 am, armed men opened fire on both sides with heavy weapons, resulting in 12 security personnel and injured four.

The security officer of the area confirmed the number of casualties and stated that the attackers snatched the convoy weapons. Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP), also known as Pakistani Taliban, took responsibility for this attack through social media. The incident is one of the most severe attacks in recent months in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where TTP had previously controlled a lot of areas, but had to retreat after a 2014 military campaign.

Local residents of various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have recently reported frescoes of the TTP brand on buildings that have expressed concern about the possible return of the previous control of the group during the extreme of war against American terrorism.
