Former Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit on Saturday and described it as a moment leading to peace and permanent progress. Prior to his visit, Prime Minister Modi said that the central government is committed to pursue the inclusive and all -round development of Manipur. In a post, Prime Minister Modi wrote that I will be involved in the programs in Churachandpur and Imphal on 13 September tomorrow. We are fully committed to pursue the inclusive and all -round development of Manipur. The X post wrote that the foundation stone of road projects, national highway projects, women hostels etc. will be laid. The projects that are being inaugurated include Civil Secretariat, IT SEZ building and new Police Headquarters in Mantri, which is a unique market for women in various districts.
According to the PMO, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of many development projects worth more than Rs 7,300 crore in Churachandpur. These projects in Manipur urban roads over Rs 3,600 crore, drainage and asset management improvement project; Five national highway projects over Rs 2,500 crore; Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project, working women hostels at 9 places etc.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate several development projects worth more than Rs 1,200 crore in Imphal. Among them, the Civil Secretariat in Ministerial Promotion; IT SEZ Bhawan and New Police Headquarters in Ministerial Promotion; Manipur Bhavan in Delhi and Kolkata; And four districts include a unique market for women, Ima Market. On May 3, 2023, the furore of ethnic conflict and the continuous dispute between Maetai and Cookie communities have caused permanent damage to Manipur, damaging its economy, disrupted social unity and destabilized its political landscape.
