File was found late … Omar Khalid and Sharjil Imam, SC postponed petition

The Supreme Court on Friday postponed the hearing on the bail petitions of all the accused in the 2020 Delhi riots conspiracy case, Sharjil Imam, Umar Khalid, Miran Haider and Gulfisha Fatima till next week. Justice Arvind Kumar and Justice N.V. Anjaria’s bench expressed difficulty in considering a group of special permission petitions (SLPs), given that the case files were distributed very late last night. A bench headed by Justice Kumar, headed by Justice Kumar, directed that the group of petitions should be listed on September 19, focusing on the arguments of the accused for the accused Delhi High Court challenging their refusal to bail their bail by the accused.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court had refused to bail several activists and student leaders in connection with the alleged major conspiracy behind the North-East Delhi riots. In its order passed on 2 September, a bench of Justice Shailinder Kaur and Justice Naveen Chawla prima facie stated that there are enough evidence in the records that say that Imam and Khalid hatched a conspiracy.
