Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to his Italian counterpart Georgia Meloni on Wednesday. In this conversation, he said that the two confirmed the joint commitment to deepen the Indo-Italy strategic partnership and end the Ukraine conflict. Prime Minister Modi thanked Meloni for the support of Italy in finalizing the India-European Union (EU) trade agreement. We showed a shared interest in ending our joint commitment to further strengthening the Indo-Italy strategic partnership and ending the struggle in Ukraine as soon as possible.

PM Modi said that he thanked Prime Minister Meloni for finalizing the India-European Union Union Trade Agreement and promoting contact through the IMEEC initiative. The agreement with the European Union came only a few hours after the reports that US President Donald Trump has requested the European Union to impose extensive fees on India. According to a report by the Financial Times, the President held a meeting with senior American and European Union officials in Washington and made the demand there. This publication quoted an anonymous American official as saying that we are ready to go now, but we will do this only when our European partners will come forward with us.
