SA20 Auction: South Africa T20 League auction spent 65 crores, expressed confidence in youth

The South Africa T20 League was spent fiercely in the 2025-26 season auction. Before the fourth season of the league, a huge amount of about 65 crores was spent on the players. Dewald Bravis was bought by Pratoria Capitals for 16.5 million rands i.e. about Rs 8.31 crore. He became the most expensive player in the history of the league. In the auction, 22.8 million rands were spent on 12 under-23 cricketers.
Sourav Ganguly, the new head coach of Pretoria Capitals, said to sign Brevis, I hope he will do well. I think he is a tremendous player. In the last one and a half years, his game has improved a lot. Like we saw against Australia. On that tour, he showed that he is a player to change the game. In T20 cricket you need a similar player.
He said that we have Russell and Rutherford who can really do amazing. I hope Brevis will do the same. I never connect the performance with money. I believe he is a great player. He plays spinco very well which is very important. Keeping all the things in mind, money has been spent on them.
At the same time, SA20 League Commissioner Graeme Smith said after the auction, I always hesitate to talk about the figures, but it is very good to see the investment again in South African cricket. This is an investment that had never happened before. The franchise has come and has invested correctly. You can see that they are supporting South African players.
