Honorable Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Agriculture Minister, Bihar Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha said that the state government is constantly striving to empower farmers and give modern form to agricultural marketing structure. In this sequence, an ambitious scheme has been sanctioned at a cost of 5 billion 40 crore 61 lakh 47 thousand 600 for modernization and proper development of 09 market premises of the state under the State Plan. Under this scheme, 95 percent amount from NABARD will be provided as loan and 05 percent from the state.

The Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister said that in the financial year 2025-26, a total withdrawal and expenditure of Rs 38 crore 21 lakh 5 thousand 264 has been approved under separate administrative approval on market premises. This includes Rs 36 crore 30 lakh from NABARD and Rs 1 crore 91 lakh 5 thousand 264 from the state. He said that this amount is being used for the rejuvenation and expansion of facilities of market premises, which will give more convenience to farmers in marketing of their produce.
The Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister directed that the work conducted in this financial year should be completed. The said work is being implemented by Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited. Mr. Sinha informed that the implementation of this scheme will create an employment of 10 lakh 67 thousand 136 man’s day in the financial year 2025-26. This will provide direct employment to rural youth and local workers and will get new pace to the rural economy of the state. Along with employment, farmers will also get benefit from modern and transparent market systems, which will allow them to get better value of their produce.

He said that the 09 market premises under this scheme are being modernized, the agricultural production market committee Sasaram, Begusarai, Katihar, Farbisganj, Jehanabad, Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Chhapra and Bihta. This will strengthen infrastructure in market premises and provide modern facilities. The Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister also said that regular monitoring of the work going on in the market premises is being done by the Directorate of Agriculture Marketing, so that the work can be completed on time. He expressed confidence that the successful implementation of this scheme will give new direction to the agricultural market system in the state, will increase the income of farmers and strengthen the overall development of the agriculture sector.
