The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday raided five states and one union territory in a terrorist conspiracy case associated with ISIS and other groups. Raids were conducted at 21 places including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Jammu and Kashmir. The anti-terrorism agency, which took the case from the local police in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, is investigating the activities of Akhlathur Mohammad Akhalak Mujahid, who is accused of plotting terrorist activities in India.

During the raid, the NIA seized several digital equipment and objectionable documents including mobile phones. The accused was allegedly in touch with these terrorist organizations through social media and was helping to make contact with institutions in Pakistan and Syria. The agency said that according to the NIA investigation, the accused was in touch with these terrorist organizations through social media platforms. Officials suspect that in view of Mujahid’s alleged relations with Pakistan and Syria, its campaigns may get the support of international institutions. The NIA is working to decod communication and confirm the involvement of external organizations in the conspiracy.
