Myanmar in 2021, Pakistan in 2022 and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh in 2024 and now Nepal. In the last few years, the neighboring countries of India have seen economic and political upheaval one after the other. Over the years, India has maintained its neighboring diplomatic approach, with human assistance to development cooperation, border diplomacy and a vigilant connection based on the reference of each neighbor. India has done the same amidst the current situation of Nepal. There were massive protests in Nepal on Monday, in which at least 19 people were killed and dozens of others were injured when security personnel firing at protesters. Oli resigned as Prime Minister after the protests became violent. India’s Foreign Ministry (Mea) expressed deep grief over the life of the youth, saying that he was keeping a close watch on the situation and urged Indian citizens to be vigilant and avoid unnecessary visit to Nepal.

What is happening in Nepal?
On September 4, Pal’s KP Sharma Oli government blocked 26 social media platforms including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Redit and X, citing not complying with new registration and monitoring orders. Stay on the platform requirements such as tickets and vibers. The ban was followed by protests from Jane Z protesters. The clashes became deadly after the police opened fire on the protesters on 8 September. At least 17–19 people were killed and more than 100 injured, including both common citizens and security personnel. The Nawal came that the angry people started running on the streets from the finance minister to the former PM. Party offices were set on fire. Then Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had to resign to calm the anger.
Protest against Rajapaksa family in Sri Lanka
After the 2022 economic crisis, President Gotabaya fled the country. On 23 September 2024, Anura Kumar became the President of Disinayak. The Anura government took strict action against corruption. Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and 5 former ministers were sentenced to jail in cases of corruption. Sri Lanka’s economy is still in crisis. There is a burden of inflation, unemployment and poverty on people.

Students in Bangladesh ousted Hasina from power
In August 2024, Nobel winner Mohammad Yunus was appointed as the head of the interim government in a month of Hasina government in Bangladesh. Elections were to be held in 90 days, but he has remained PM for the last 13 months. Many agitating students were included in the interim government. The government has left the government after having more than half of the 8 major student leaders. The army is running power. From India to India, the response to Bangladesh was cautious. The government preferred the safety of its citizens through travel consultation, had diplomatic talks with Bangladeshi military leaders to reduce stress, and adopted a limited intervention and gave sheikh Hasina asylum. Although the trade routes like Petrapol were affected, the partly starting of trade under security reflects the delicate balance that both countries tried to maintain.
What happened in Pakistan?
Shahbaz Sharif’s coalition government was formed in April 2022 after Imran Khan’s farewell to power. But the government is controlling the army chief Field Marshal Aaseem Munir. The government is struggling with dissatisfaction at several sprains. The attacks of rebels in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have increased by 70%. India’s response was judicious and restrained: while closely monitoring the developments, it was decided not to interfere in Pakistan’s internal political upheaval.

Army in power in Myanmar since 2021
In February 2021, Myanmar’s army captured power. State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and President U Win Mint detained and announced an emergency for a year citing alleged electoral fraud in the November 2020 general election. There were large -scale demonstrations across the country. In response, military regime imposed curfew, banned meetings (eg, not a group of more than five people), and used force – resulting in hundreds of citizens. According to the United Nations, 6,231 citizens have been killed so far.
