Gandhi Premiere at Tiff 2025 | ‘Gandhi’ in TIFF! Hansal Mehta’s series received a great standing ovation!

But seeing Peter Morgan’s ‘The Crown’, producers Hansal Mehta and Sameer Nair saw the possibility of converting the story of the civil rights leader into an epic series on the small screen.Filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s ‘Gandhi’ premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The series starring Prateek Gandhi was stood up by the packed international audiences and played applause.

The series, which is the first Indian series to be presented in TIFF, leads the extraordinary journey of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi’s exceptional journey to a young man becoming a global symbol of non -violence and change.

In the series, the soul is communicated by a soulful original music composed by AR Rahman, whose music further enhances the emotional and historical significance of Gandhi’s journey.
Prior to ‘Gandhi’, both Hansal and Prateek worked together in the 2020 successful show ‘Scam 1992’. The show was known for its attractive story and strong acting.
The series is inspired by the famous works of Ramchandra Guha, ‘Gandhi Bifor India’ and ‘Gandhi: The Year that Changed the World’, which gives a thorough investigation into Gandhi’s influence.Prateek Gandhi’s wife and actress Bhamini Ojha is seen playing the role of Kasturba Gandhi in this series.
