PM Modi’s big statement on Himachal-Punjab floods: Center with the victims in the hour of crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for a day -long visit to the flood affected areas of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab on Tuesday and reiterated the Center for standing with the people affected by this natural disaster. Starting his tour from Himachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister assessed the damage caused by torrential rains and landslides. He will then conduct an aerial survey of flood affected areas of Punjab.

Officials said that Prime Minister Modi held a high -level discussion with the state officials and chaired a review meeting to evaluate the ongoing relief and rescue operations. He also interacted with the flood-affected local residents as well as the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the personnel of the Disaster Friends Teams. Before leaving Delhi, Prime Minister Modi posted on the social media platform X (earlier called Twitter), which said, “The Government of India is standing shoulder to shoulder with the affected people in this tragic hour.”

Prior to the Prime Minister’s visit, strict security arrangements were made in Gurdaspur. Punjab is currently struggling with one of the most horrific flood disasters in recent decades. Along with the boom of Sutlej, Vyas and Ravi rivers, seasonal drains have submerged a large part of the state. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president Aman Arora hoped that the Center would announce a relief package for the flood -affected state. He said that Punjab has been in the grip of floods for the last 20-25 days. Tomorrow Prime Minister Modi is coming to Punjab. We welcome them and hope that tomorrow he will give relief package to Punjab. The initial estimate of the flood damage is Rs 20,000 crore.

Aman Arora said that Prime Minister Modi has not said a word about Punjab struggling with floods. We hope that Prime Minister Modi will stand with the people of Punjab in this difficult time … Punjab should be given a minimum package of Rs 20,000 crore as disaster relief and 60,000 crore rupees should also be given to Punjab. Prime Minister Modi will visit flood affected areas of Punjab on Tuesday.
