Nepal Gen Z Protest: Army on the streets amidst violence, orders to shoot on the road, so far 9 people died

Jane Z protesters staged mass protests in Kathmandu to protest against the corruption charges against the government and the recent ban on many major social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube and Snapchat. Thousands of protesters gathered at the Maitghar in Kathmandu to express their disagreement. The situation worsened after the protesters enter the Parliament complex in violation of the banned area. The police retaliated with water showers, tear gas and ammunition. India has also increased security due to unrest in Nepal. The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has increased the monitoring of the Indo-Nepal border and deployed additional soldiers to ensure security and maintain vigilance.

Police clash with protesters

There was a clash between the police and the protesters as tension increased outside the Parliament House in Kathmandu. The security forces remained stood and used crowd control measures to handle the increasing stressful situation. Protests have turned into conflicts and officials are trying to maintain the system amid growing unrest. A government spokesperson has confirmed that the Nepali army has been deployed to maintain law and order in opposition areas of Kathmandu. This step has been taken at a time when the authorities are trying to control the increasing tension and restore peace amidst ongoing demonstrations.

Curfew was imposed after trying to attack Parliament

According to officials and eyewitnesses, the Nepali police fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse young protesters trying to attack Parliament House. Kathmandu District Office spokesman Muktiram Rizal told the media that curfew has been imposed till 10 pm (1615 GMT) at the local time to help restore the system after the protests turned violent. He further said that security forces have been instructed to use water showers, sticks and rubber pills to push the protesters back.
