Union Minister and BJP leader Ashwini Vaishnav while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters on Saturday told reporters that the recently launched next generation GST reforms started work about one and a half years ago and has nothing to do with any external factor. He was asked whether GST reforms had any direct connection with the tariff imposed by Trump on Indian goods. Vaishnav said that preparations for GST reforms started about one and a half years ago … had started before the US elections. This initiative was taken under Prime Minister Modi’s clear goal of reform, performance and change. This GST reform will start the change journey of the country.

Vaishnav, while giving a clear reference to the American tariff on Indian goods, said that this GST reform process, which has been going on for one and a half years, has now been finalized … At every step, Prime Minister Modi has guided us … External factors have no role in this next generation of improvement. In addition, he gave examples of pre -GST era when trucks laden with goods had to place long queues on the state borders for necessary approval. The minister said that now this process is easy. He said that earlier, there used to be long queues of trucks on the boundaries of the state. Now, e-way bills are made in a few seconds.
GST was implemented in 2017. Vaishnav said that the income tax relief given in the budget of 2025-26 and rationalization of GST rates is expected to bring India’s economy to a new level. He said in the press conference that before 2014, the taxation system was very complex and items were taxed at several levels. GST has simplified it. In GST reforms, this rationalization and simplification will make people easier. He said that GST has been reduced on all daily use items under the next generation reforms. He said that the promise made by Prime Minister Modi to the ramparts of the Red Fort has been fulfilled.

On the first day of Navratri, 22 September, all changes in GST rates will be implemented. Vaishnav said that this GST reform will further pursue India’s economy. From a pure economic point of view, our GDP is currently Rs 3.30 lakh crore, out of which Rs 2.02 lakh crore is our consumption. If our consumption also increases by 10%, we will have an additional consumption of Rs 20 lakh crore, which will contribute to GDP, “he gave an estimated calculation to what extent this GST improvement can increase the country’s consumption.
