Akshay Kumar donated Rs 5 crore for Punjab flood relief
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has donated Rs 5 crore for relief work in Punjab, which has been badly affected by the floods in Beas, Sutlej, Ravi and Ghaggar rivers. In an interview to Hindustan Times, the National Award winning actor described his contribution, not a “service” and emphasized that he is very happy to help in the time of crisis. Kumar prayed to the people of Punjab and hoped that this natural disaster would soon end and the affected families would get relief.
Harbhajan Singh led the rescue operation by donating boat
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has on Tuesday resolved to donate 10 boats to speed up rescue operations in flood affected areas. Harbhajan, who recently visited the affected areas, emphasized the need for collective action and appealed to Prime Minister Modi for further assistance. Singh said, “I thank all the battles and various organizations that are helping to save people. I request more people to come forward.”
Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda expressed their support for the flood -affected Punjab people and urged their fans, followers and others to participate in relief efforts. There has been a severe flood in Punjab due to heavy rains in the catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir due to heavy rains in Sutlej, Vyas and Ravi rivers and seasonal drains. Many places have been affected by floods. According to the bulletin released by the state authorities on the situation from August 1 to September 2, the flood has killed 30 people and more than 3.5 lakh people have been affected.

Singers Satinder Sartaj, Jasbir Jassi and Amy Virk have also given their support. Virk and his team are helping people in 200 villages.
