Three people of the same family, including two children, were killed in a face-to-face collision between a bus of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and an SUV vehicle on Thursday in Ochira in southern district. Police gave this information.
According to the police, the family was returning home after leaving a relative at Kochi Airport, when there was a direct fight between her vehicle in Valiyakulangra, Ochira and a KSRTC bus going from Kollam to Charthala at around 6.30 am.
The deceased have been identified as Prince Thomas, a resident of Pipe Junction in Thevalkara in Kollam, his son Atul and daughter Alka. The other three family members are undergoing treatment in a private hospital and their condition is stated to be critical. The collision was so fast that both vehicles were badly damaged.
Local people cut the doors of the SUV and took out the injured and took them to the hospital but Prince and his children died. The Ochira police, citing CCTV footage received from nearby shops, said that the speed of the SUV was fast at that time and the Prince would have taken a nap while driving. He said, however, the real reason will be confirmed only after a detailed investigation.
