Finance Minister Scott Besant said “all options are under consideration” because the Trump administration is considering further ban on Russia over the growing war in Ukraine, while President Donald Trump continues to try peace talks through conversation.In an interview to Fox News, Besant accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of intensifying airstrikes, while recent meetings indicated that Putin was ready for talks. Besant said, “Since the historic meeting in Encourage … … Putin has done opposite to what he had done. In fact, he has increased the bombing campaign in a disgusting manner.” He further said, “All options with President Trump are under consideration, and I think we will consider them closely this week.”
No progress between Trump and Putin since Alaska Summit
The comment came two weeks after the Alaska summit, where US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met to discuss the war in Ukraine. At the summit, Trump gave Russia a two -week deadline to show progress towards peace agreement. This time limit ended on Monday, and there was no clear progress towards peace.
Meanwhile, speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, Russian President Vladimir Putin defended Russia’s actions in Ukraine. He claimed that the struggle began in 2014 due to the coup in Kiev, which he was instigated by Western countries.
Putin also said that the west effort to include Ukraine in NATO is a straightforward threat to the safety of Russia, and repeated the long -standing justification for the attack.
