Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has applied for pension as a former member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. The Assembly Secretariat has started the process of approving their application. Dhankhar, who has recently resigned as Vice President, has been an MLA from Rajasthan before. Dhankhar was elected to the 10th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from Kishangarh constituency in Ajmer district on a Congress ticket in 1993. His term as an MLA remained till 1998.

During this period, he also served as a member of the Rules Committee of the Legislative Assembly from 1994 to 1997. According to the rules, every former MLA in Rajasthan is entitled to receive a monthly pension of Rs 35,000. Apart from this, there is also a provision for age-based increase. Former MLAs above 70 years of age are eligible for 20 percent additional pension, while MLAs above 80 years of age get a 30 percent increase. Dhankhar, who is currently 74 years old, deserves an increase of 20 percent.

This means that now they will get a pension of about Rs 42,000 per month instead of Rs 35,000. If their age is over 80 years in future, then according to the rules, their pension amount will increase by 30 percent. Confirming this, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani said that the application of Dhankar has been received for pension as former MLA and necessary action is going on. As soon as the formalities are completed, they will start getting pension. Dhankhar has a long and prestigious career in public life.
