The absconding person arrested after being released on Parol in case of rape, murder of girl: Delhi Police

In 2007, the police arrested a person absconding in the case of rape and murder of a six -year -old girl from Bihar. Officials gave this information on Friday. The accused named Sanjay alias Sujoy (40), a resident of Patna, was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2010 for a crime committed in Kapashera in October 2007.

Officials said that the Delhi High Court had upheld his conviction in 2014. He was released on Parol in June 2021 and never returned to jail again.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said that to dodge the police, he changed his name from Sanjay to Sujoy and kept his hideout in Bihar.

The DCP said, during this period, he allegedly continued his criminal behavior. In 2021, he entered a neighbor’s house in Patna and attacked him with the intention of misbehaving with women. A case was registered against him at Didarganj police station.

Based on secret information, a police team was sent to Patna, where Sanjay was arrested from his hideout. After being released on Parol, the accused performed two marriages and one of his wife from a wife, while the other is pregnant.
