Prime Minister naps on phone call leaks in Thailand, Thai court dismisses Partangatar Shinavatra

The country’s constitutional court has dismissed the post after his tenure after Thailand’s Prime Minister Partangatar Shinavatra was found guilty of violation of moral standards. The court ruled that he has violated morality rules after leaking a phone call with a former Cambodia leader. The Constitutional Court of Thailand also said that the Prime Minister does not have qualifications under the Constitution. Following the court’s decision, Deputy Prime Minister will look after the government as Fummam Vachayachai and the current cabinet caretaker, until the new Prime Minister is selected by the Parliament. This election will be held on the date to be decided by the President of the House.

Who are the probable prime ministerial candidates?

Out of the candidates declared before the 2023 election, five candidates are left. Fue Thai initially had three candidates, but now only one is left: 77 -year -old Chaikasem Neetisiri, former Justice Minister and Attorney General, who has made rare headlines so far, but has said that he is ready to come forward. Another possibility is from 58-year-old Anutiin Charanavirakul, an ambitious former Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, whose Bhumijathai Party left the Partangatar alliance in June. Current Energy Minister Pirmani Salirratha Bhagga, former Deputy Prime Minister Jurin Laksavisit and former Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha, who was a general and who led the coup against the previous Fu Thai government in 2014, also qualify for the post. 71 -year -old Prayuth has retired from politics and is currently a royal advisor.
