Punjab is struggling with heavy rains in the northern states and a severe flood crisis caused by cloudburst in hilly areas. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has deployed his entire cabinet in flood affected districts and has directed the ministers to stay in the affected areas till the situation comes under control. People are being focused on removing people, safety of property and ensuring uninterrupted relief campaign. Showing solidarity, Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini wrote a letter to his counterpart Bhagwant Mann in Punjab and offered full help to deal with the floods. This step underlines inter-state cooperation at a time when rising water level is causing havoc in rural areas and border areas.

Accepting the seriousness of the situation, Punjab Minister Aman Arora said that the state government, administration and citizens are working together to reduce the loss. He stressed that this is not the time of politics and the Punjab government is working closely with the central officials. Arora said, heavy rains have spoiled the situation further outside Punjab, but all kinds of help is being provided. He also highlighted the ongoing rescue operations, trapped residents and animals and distribution of food and essential commodities. Fazilka district has become one of the most affected areas, where more than 20 villages have been submerged due to the rising water level of the Sutlej river. Even a checkpoint of the Border Security Force (BSF) has been affected. Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu has confirmed that many villages have lost contact. The Indian Army and BSF, along with local authorities, have helped to evacuate people and relief work.

To maintain law and order during the crisis, the Fazilka Police has launched “Night Domination Program”, which includes posts, patrolling and round the clock monitoring. This initiative emphasizes public safety and urges citizens to inform immediately about suspicious activities. Following the instructions of Chief Minister Mann, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema is monitoring Sangrur and Mansa personally, while other cabinet colleagues are handling relief work in various districts including Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Pathankot and Sultanpur Lodhi. The main focus focuses on clearance, shelter, food, clean water and medical aid.
