China describes the ceremony as “the fight for resistance against the Japanese invasion in World War II”. There has been a diplomatic tension between Japan and China over the presence of foreign leaders in this parade, as Tokyo appealed to the world leaders not to attend the event. He says that “anti-Japan feelings” reflects it.

China has lodged a diplomatic protest, expressing displeasure over this request of Japan. Chinese Assistant External Affairs Minister Hong Lei announced here on Thursday that 26 foreign leaders would attend the Victory Day celebrations at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. He told that these leaders also include Putin and Kim. Hong said, “China will organize a grand military parade on September 3, which will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of victory in war against the Japanese invasion of the Chinese people and the 80th anniversary of victory in the anti -fascist World War.”

The parade will be held in Beijing soon after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held on 31 August and 1 September in Tianjin city. Last week, Chinese Assistant External Affairs Minister Liu bin had reported that 20 world leaders and 10 international organizations head SCOs would attend the summit, including UN Secretary -General Antonio Gutaras.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend this conference in Tianjin after a two -day visit to Japan. It is China’s effort to include the leaders who attended the SCO conference in their parade as well. Japan is angry with this. Japanese news agency ‘Kyodo’ said on Tuesday that Japan has sent a message to other countries through its foreign embassies that this event of China shows “anti-Japan sentiments” and leaders should consider partnership carefully.

China’s Foreign Ministry has reacted strictly on this and lodged a diplomatic protest against Japan. He said that if Japan really wants to leave historical issues behind, he should accept his aggressive past, shore completely with militarism, follow the path of peaceful development and respect the sentiments of China and other aggrieved countries.

Other leaders attending the SCO Summit will include Turki President Rajab Tayyab Erdoan, Indonesian President Prabovo Subianto, Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Vietnam Prime Minister Fam Minh Chinese. Chinese Assistant External Affairs Minister Liu bin had earlier told that Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Nepal K.P. Sharma Oli and Maldives President Mohammad Mujju will attend this conference.
