Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma said on Wednesday that a person has been arrested for allegedly providing the phone numbers of several residents of Dhubri district Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). JMB is trying to create unrest in the state here.
The Chief Minister said in a press conference here that the arrested person is an Indian citizen and he was the main medium providing phone numbers to JMB. After the phone number became available, JMB members used to call those people with the intention of making them radical.
He said that the arrested person Ali Hussain Bepari was also arrested earlier, but he was out on bail. He said that strict monitoring is being done in Dhubri and South Salamara districts bordering Bangladesh.
The Chief Minister said, “Dakshin Salmara has been peaceful for the last five years, but in recent times, there have been many activities in Dhubri. Therefore, expressing concern about the law and order situation, we have decided to continue the order to shoot at night during Durgapuja. ”
In response to another question, he said that no FIR will be lodged against Saeeda Hamid, former member of the Planning Commission. Hamid had said that Bangladeshi can also live here.
The Chief Minister said, “If I lodge an FIR, she will collect donations from different parts of the country to fight the case. This will only benefit them. ”The Chief Minister said that if she comes back to Assam, the state government will do whatever will have to be done according to the law. Regarding the National Register of Citizen (NRC), Sharma alleged that the people of Assam have been cheated, as there are many discrepancies in the list and there are several suspicious entries.
