Turki President Rajab Tayyab Erdoan on Wednesday formally inaugurated the country’s integrated air defense system, known as “Steel Dome”. He described it as an important moment for the country and its defense industry.
Erdoan said at an event organized at the plant of Defense Company Asalson in Ankara, these systems are the performance of Turkas. In the field of air defense we are starting a new era for our country.
Erdoan’s government announced the beginning of the development of “Steel Dome” in August last year. It integrates the sea-based and land-based air defense platforms and sensors in a network to protect the Turkian sky.
Erdoan said that the latest phase of the project includes 47 vehicles worth US $ 46 million which will create confidence in our friends and fear in our enemies. The government has not clarified when this system will be completely operational.
