Women panchayat members found dead in Kerala, suspected of suicide

A 48 -year -old female member of a panchayat was found dead on Tuesday at Aryanad in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. Local Congress worker and Kottakkam Ward member of Aryanad Gram Panchayat, Sreeja S.K. She was found dead in a shed near her house in the morning.

According to the police, it is suspected that he died due to consumption of an acidic substance. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but was declared dead by doctors. A police officer said, “Prima facie it is a case of suicide. Investigation is on. According to her husband’s statement, she had some economic problems. ”

Leader of Opposition in Kerala Legislative Assembly VD Satishan alleged that he committed suicide due to a public meeting organized by the ruling Marxist Communist Party (CPI) to humiliate Sreeja on financial issues.

Meanwhile, local Congress leaders alleged that they took this step due to the CPI (M) ‘campaign targeting them over financial issues. He also staged a protest in the panchayat regarding this incident.

Speaking to reporters in Kozhikode, he said that the female member of the ward was publicly humiliated during the meeting organized under the aegis of the Regional Secretary of the Marxist Party.
