Ukraine’s President Jailonski trusts, India will contribute to ending Russia-Ukraine War

Ukraine’s President Volodimir Jailonski on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for congratulating the country’s Independence Day and said that Kiev has a “contribution of India” for ending the war with Russia.

Jailonsky said in a social media post that Ukraine appreciates India’s dedication to “Shanti and Dialogue”. The Ukrainian President said, “Now, when the whole world is trying to end this terrible war with a dignity and permanent peace, we have confidence in India’s contribution.”

He said, “Every decision to strengthen diplomacy leads not only in Europe, but also beyond Hind-Pacific and beyond.” Prime Minister Modi wished for a future full of peace and progress for the people of Ukraine on 16 August and thanked Zelancesi for the best wishes of Independence Day. Earlier, Jailonsky had wished India on Independence Day on 15 August and said that he hoped that India would contribute to the efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Along with his message, Zelansky also shared a letter addressed by Prime Minister Modi to him. In the letter, Prime Minister Modi greeted the people of Ukraine and recalled Kiev’s journey last year. He wrote “I wish you and the people of Ukraine on the occasion of your Independence Day. I heartily remember my journey of Kiev in August last year and since then I focus on the progress made in India-Ukraine bilateral relations.”

Prime Minister Modi wrote, “I am ready to further strengthen our mutually beneficial cooperation with you.” Repeating this firm attitude of India, the Prime Minister said, “India has always been in favor of peace. India is committed to all possible efforts being made for the early, permanent and peaceful solutions of struggle through dialogue and diplomacy.” He also expressed his best wishes for the health and skills of Zelanceci. The wishes have been exchanged amidst increasing diplomatic association with the Kiev of New Delhi.

The Ukrainian Ambassador Olexander Polishchuk recently confirmed that PM Modi has invited President Zelanski to come to India, both sides working on finalizing dates. The messenger praised India’s stance, saying that New Delhi is “not neutral”, but strongly supports peace and dialogue. The outreach took place after the earlier exchange of India’s Independence Day, when Zelancesi hoped that India would contribute to global peace efforts and highlighted bilateral cooperation opportunities in business, technology and culture. The two leaders, through their messages, confirmed the importance of the peaceful solution of war, emphasized to strengthen dialogue, diplomacy and bilateral relations.
