During his visit to the Suzuki Motor Plant at Hansalpur (Ahmedabad), Prime Minister Modi launched E-Vitara’s global exports, which is Maruti Suzuki’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV).

According to reports, this electric vehicle, which was first displayed at the India Mobility Global Expo 2025, is now ready and will be exported to more than 100 countries including Japan and European markets.

Production of hybrid battery electrode started in Gujarat

With the launch of EV exports, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the local production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-ion battery plant, a joint venture of Denso, Toshiba and Suzuki.

With this achievement, now more than 80 percent of the batteries will be produced in India, and this will promote the country’s electric vehicle battery ecosystem and will further reduce the country’s import dependence.

E-Vitara will play a leading role in manufacturing electric vehicles in India

E-Vitara will be constructed at Hansalpur plant in Maruti Suzuki, which is part of the annual production capacity of 26 lakh vehicles of its four plants in India.

In FY 2025, the company allegedly exported 3.32 lakh vehicles and sold 19.01 lakh units in the country.

With the launch of E-Vitara, India has officially become Suzuki’s global manufacturing center for electric vehicles (EV).

India’s green dynamics and infrastructure promoted

Prime Minister Modi has called this initiative “a special day for the discovery of India in the direction of self -reliance and green dynamics”. This launch is in line with the government’s comprehensive approach to make India a global center of electric mobility, advanced manufacturing and clean energy technologies.

Apart from the EV initiative, PM Modi also dedicated railway projects worth Rs 1,400 crore, including a doubling of Rs 530 crore of Mahesana-Palanpur railway line, which will further strengthen Gujarat’s infrastructure.
