Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy advocated 21 years to contest the assembly elections 21 years

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said on Monday that when people can become IAS and IPS officers at the age of 21, they should also be allowed to contest the assembly elections at this age.

Addressing a gathering at the University of Osmania after inaugurating the newly constructed hostels and laying the foundation stone of various buildings, Reddy alleged that a malicious campaign was carried out by making pictures of AIs that there were lions and elephants at Hyderabad University.

The Chief Minister said, “At the age of 21, people become IAS and IPS officers and are running the administration as District Officer. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar gave us the constitution, in which people who have completed 21 years of age were given the right to vote.”

He said, “Today I request you to consider it and adopt it as a program. When former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had given the age of voting to 18 years, when IAS and APS officials were working at the age of 21, why can people not be selected for the assembly at the age of 21? This country needs youth leadership at the age of 21?”

The age to contest the assembly elections is still 25 years. Reddy said that 65 percent of Telangana’s population is between 21 and 35 years of age, which is beneficial for the nation. The Chief Minister said that the treasure in Telangana has become empty and no land is available with the government to sell and raise money.

He said that the state government is still committed to providing quality education. He said that during the previous government of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), a conspiracy was hatched to weaken the University of Osmania and he pledged to restore the lost pride of this institute.
