The world is going through a period today where war and violence have endangered the progress of civilization. The Russia-Ukraine conflict is in front of us as a fresh example of this. This war has not only shook the stability of Europe, but has also put the entire global economy in a deep crisis. Thousands of people were killed, millions of people became refugees and energy and food crisis affected developing countries. In such a difficult time, India has made it clear that the war cannot be solved by any problem by introducing its traditional policy-disappointment, disarmament and Ayudh. By inviting Ukraine President Bolodimir Jailonski to come to India, India has indicated that India may play an active role in getting a ceasefire and peace agreement, of course the move should be welcomed. If Russia and Ukraine brings India to the conversation table, then it will be in the interest of the whole world, this will not brighten the darkness of war, peace.
India’s invitation to the President of Ukraine to come to India is not only a part of peace efforts, but it is also a diplomatic step to reply to the moves of America. In recent times, the US has tried to unstable and disturb its economy by putting trade tariffs on India and by creating various economic pressure. But the Modi government has given a message from its strong diplomacy that India is no longer going to come under any pressure. By inviting Zelanski, India showed that it is capable of adopting an independent policy by communicating with both Russia and Ukraine and is moving forward on the path of its peace and balance rather than bending to the US expectations. This step is a proof of India’s self -reliant, courageous and global leadership role. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly said-‘This is not a period of war.’ This sentence not only a diplomatic statement, but represents India’s eternal policy and cultural approach.

During the Russia-Ukraine War, India not only played a limited role to words, but also made concrete human efforts. Thousands of Indian students and citizens were safely evacuated under ‘Operation Ganga’. India sent medicines, human aid and relief material to Ukraine. India maintained dialogue with both Russia and Ukraine. In August last year, Narendra Modi became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Ukraine. Earlier he traveled to Russia. Prime Minister Modi also clarified India’s stance in a continuous conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodimir Zalenski that peace should be restored, it is not a period of war, but a period of peace and development. India also welcomed the summit between US President Trump and Russian President Putin in Alaska and said that dialogue and diplomacy is the way to move forward and ceasefire.
If the process of interaction between Russia and Ukraine begins, India’s role in it may be decisive. Today the image of India has emerged as a reliable intermediary. India is not only a big country in terms of population and economy, but also has a different identity in the world from cultural and moral terms. Inspired by Gandhi’s land, Buddha’s compassion and Mahavira’s non -violence, if this nation raises the flag of peace, his voice cannot be ignored. This is the reason that the whole world is expecting India today to lead peace. This role of India not only makes it an emerging superpower, but also establishes as ‘Vishwaguru’. Because India knows-‘peace is the real way of humanity, and non-violence is its greatest power.’
India’s peace policy has not been limited to Russia-Ukraine War only. Whether it is Iran-Israel, Israel-Hamas war, Afghanistan crisis or the Middle East’s turmoil-India has always given priority to dialogue and diplomacy. At the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Modi told the world leaders that the challenges in front of humanity will be solved from the war, but from cooperation and cooperation. He made it clear that the poor and small countries have to suffer the most by putting the brunt of war in front of the suffering of developing countries and the economic crisis arising out of war. In today’s world, arms competition and strategic competition are increasing. Wars are being fought not only on the front, but also in technical, cyber and economic fields. At such a time, India’s policy of non -violence and Ayudh is working as a luster for humanity.
The history of India is the history of peace and non -violence. Lord Mahavira described non -violence as the highest religion. He said- “Ahimsa Paramo Dharma:”. Gautama Buddha gave the message of compassion and friendship and gave a view to make the entire Asia land ‘peace area’. Mahatma Gandhi converted this tradition into modern politics. He showed that powerful power like imperialism can also be defeated on the basis of truth and non -violence. The belief in the soul of India lies deeply that violence only brings destruction and peace is a permanent solution. This heritage has been revived by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on international forums. In 2022, when the Russia-Ukraine war intensified, Modi firmly said on the forums like the United Nations, G20 and BRICS-‘Today is the time of peace, stability and cooperation, not of war.’ India understood the truth in time and gave the message to the world that ‘peace is the future, not war.’ By taking it into modern diplomacy, it has proved that India thinks not only for itself, but for the whole of humanity.
After independence, India adopted a non -aligned policy in international politics. At the time of the Cold War, when the world was divided into two camps of America and the Soviet Union, India showed courage that it would not become a hanger of any superpower. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Yugoslavia President Tito and Egyptian President Nasir together laid the foundation of the Non -Aligned Movement. Its aim was to keep the countries of the world away from war politics and open a new path of peace and cooperation. India’s policy of non -violence says that permanent solution is only in peace and dialogue. The policy of Ayudh says that it is the real power to adopt an independent attitude without becoming a hanger of any group. India has shown that this policy is not only ideal, but also practical diplomacy. When the whole world is divided into one side, then the balanced attitude of a country like India can keep the possibility of peace alive.
Today, when the Western country and Russia are standing face to face due to the Russia-Ukraine war, India has adopted the same non-aligned approach. India neither stood in favor of Russia nor is indiscriminately supporting the West. He has described dialogue and diplomacy as the only way. This is the ‘Ayudh Policy’ of India-where there is no enmity with anyone, but to work for peace by having a balanced relationship with everyone. India never supported only one side despite American and European pressure. This is his biggest strength. America and Western countries wanted India to openly condemn Russia and ban it. But India clearly said that its approach is not only ‘neutral’, but ‘peace-oriented’. India’s goal is not to stand against anyone, but to bring everyone on the path of peace. This is why both Russia and Ukraine trust India. Both believe that India can find the path of solution without bias.
