A bus returning from Niagra Falls to New York City was overturned on the interstate highway and five passengers, including an Indian, were killed and many others were injured. The officers provided this information. Officials said a total of 54 people, including Indian and Chinese citizens, were riding in the bus.
According to ‘ABC News’ reports, the deceased have been identified as Shankar Kumar Jha (65) of Bihar, East Breanswick, New Jersey’s Pinky Changrani (60), Beijing, China’s Jhee Hongzhuo (22), New Jersey’s Jhang Shiaon (55) and Gian Mingali (56).
Provincial police chief Andre Ray told a press conference on Friday evening that the accident took place at around 12:30 pm on the Interstate Highway-90 in the Pembrock area of New York.
He said that from the initial investigation, it seems that the driver’s attention was lost, causing him to lose control of the bus and overturned the bus. However, Ray did not say what was the reason for the driver’s focus.
He said that the cause of the accident is being investigated. Ray said that many people fell from the bus during the accident. Five adult passengers died on the spot.
He said that many passengers got stuck inside the bus, which were rescued. Many injured were taken to the hospital. Ray said that it does not seem that any other person suffered a deadly injuries.
