The weather took a turn, rains in many parts of Delhi-NCR, IMD made this prediction for the next two days

On Saturday evening, several parts of Delhi and surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) received rain. Many areas including Lajpat Nagar, RK Puram, Lodhi Road and Mandir Marg received light rain. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), today the sky in Delhi will be surrounded by most clouds and in many places there may be light to moderate rain or thunderstorms once or twice. In some places, there may be heavy rains in the afternoon or in the morning.

According to the Meteorological Department, after another round of light rain in the early hours of Sunday, there is a danger of light to moderate rain or thunderstorms for the next two days. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the National Capital’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was 98 at 8 am on August 23, which falls in the ‘satisfactory’ category. Meanwhile, due to continuous rains in the high Himalayan regions, the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers were also flowing above the danger mark, causing the authorities to warn the residents living on the banks of the river and urge them to take precautions.

In the scenes shared by the Uttarakhand Information and Public Relations Department on X, the river water is seen flowing at a distance of a few feet from people’s homes, as strong streams flow the dirt and any loose debris in contact with it. In Chamoli, a cloudburst caused havoc in the area, due to heavy rains late Friday night, many houses and shops were filled with mud. The Infantry Battalion of the Indian Army immediately responded to the devastation, 50 personnel from Rudraprayag were deployed to assist in relief work.
