Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday announced the ‘Greenfield Highway’ of Rs 5,500 crore connecting four tiger sanctuaries of Madhya Pradesh and ‘Greenfield Highway’ of Rs 15,000 crore between Bhopal and Jabalpur. Gadkari announced this after inaugurating the seven kilometer long flyover here.
Jabalpur MP Ashish Dubey, State Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh and other state MPs demanded a corridor connecting tiger sanctuaries to promote tourism.
The Union Minister said, “The cost of Tiger Corridor” has increased from Rs 4,600 crore to about Rs 5,500 crore. It will connect Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Panna and screw sanctuaries. “
He said that this would promote tourism, employment and state economy. According to the 2022 census, Madhya Pradesh has the highest 785 tigers. The Union Minister said that the 255 km long ‘Greenfield Highway’ between Bhopal and Jabalpur will be built at a cost of Rs 15,000 crore.
He informed that its detailed project report (DPR) will be ready by December. Gadkari asked Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Minister Rakesh Singh to ensure the process of land acquisition smoothly so that the construction work could start by next April or May.
