The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is approaching the final decision in the name of its next national presidential candidate. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is having intensive discussions with leaders and potential candidates. According to a report, the BJP may make a formal announcement after the Vice Presidential election to be held on 9 September and before the announcement of the Bihar assembly election schedule. According to a report, delayed selection for several reasons is now almost to be completed.

The report said that senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological original organization, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have contacted about 100 prominent personalities to seek suggestions for names. Consultation includes former BJP president, senior Union Minister and leaders associated with BJP or RSS, who have previously held major constitutional positions. According to sources, the party is contacting its senior ministers and chief ministers to take their opinion about the next president of the party.
Caste equations, popularity and political views have been taken into consideration. A similar response process has been adopted in the announcement of the candidate’s name for the Vice Presidential election. Sources associated with this process said that the party has approached 86 prominent leaders to take response from them so that they can help them take the next step. Some of the leaders who were talked to are also the chief ministers of the cabinet.

Technically, this process was delayed due to delay in the announcement of the names of presidents in major states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana. So far, new presidents are yet to be announced in Delhi, Mumbai, Punjab and Manipur. According to the party’s constitution, the party will have to announce presidents in at least 19 states to get ahead in the presidential election.
