The interim government of Bangladesh on Wednesday urged India to take immediate steps to ensure that no Bangladesh citizen should do anti -Bangladesh activity from his land.
Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the government has noted reports that “banned” Awami League has set up offices in India. He urged the Indian officials not to allow or support “any such activity” in any way.
He also demanded “the banned Bangladesh Awami League’s immediate closure of political offices on Indian soil. India said on Wednesday that it was not aware of any anti -Bangladesh activity in the country by the Awami League party led by former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The interim government of Bangladesh said in a statement, “Bangladeshi citizens, especially absconding leaders/activists of a banned political party, have any kind of political activity against the interests of Bangladesh, including establishing an office legitimate or illegally on Indian earth, it is a clear insult to the people of Bangladesh and the government.”
It said, “This development also threatens good neighboring relations inspired by mutual trust and respect with India and has a serious impact on the ongoing political change in Bangladesh.”
The statement feared that the case may also provoke public sentiments in Bangladesh, which may affect the efforts of the two countries to further improve the relationship between two closest neighbors. “
Meanwhile, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that New Delhi was not aware of any anti -Bangladesh activity or any action against Indian law by the alleged members of the Awami League in India.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said, “The government does not allow political activities against other countries from Indian land.” He said, “The statement of the interim government of Bangladesh in the press is wrong.”
He said, “India reiterates its expectations that independent, fair and inclusive elections will be held in Bangladesh as soon as possible to know the wishes and mandate of the people.
