In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs strongly refuted Bangladesh’s claims that the Awami League members of the disorganized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are running anti -Bangladesh activities on Indian earth. The Ministry of External Affairs dismissed these allegations as baseless. The Government of India is not aware of any anti -Bangladesh activity or any action against Indian law by the alleged members of the Awami League in India. The government does not allow political activities against other countries from Indian earth. Therefore, the press statement of the interim government of Bangladesh is wrong. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that the government’s attention has been attracted to reports stating that the banned Awami League has established offices in India. The ministry urged the Indian officials not to allow any such activity permission or support in any way. It also demanded immediate closure of political offices of Bangladesh Awami League banned on Indian earth.

A student -led movement overthrew the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, when the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India. The statement said that there is a clear insult to the people of Bangladesh and the state, including Bangladeshi citizens, especially by absconding leaders/activists of a banned political party, living on Indian earth, legal or illegally on Indian land, against the interests of Bangladesh, the people of Bangladesh and the state.
