England have announced their 15 -member women’s team for the upcoming women’s ODI World 2025. Where former captain Heather Knight has got a place in the squad. At the same time, Sarah Glenn and Denny Wyt-Hodes have also returned to the team.
According to the press release issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Knight has been included in the team but the process of recovering from the injury is going on and they are expected to be fully fit for the tournament to be held from 30 September to 2 November. Also, Glenn is one of the four experienced spinners in the team. He is one of the six players who have got a place in the World Cup team for the first time. Apart from this, it is the first ICC tournament of NAT Skivor-Brant as captain.
Let me tell you that the world’s number one ODI batsman Scivor-Brant was appointed as captain of all formats in April. Witch-hose has also returned to the team. She last played by England during the loss in the Ashes series in Australia in the 50 -over format. Kate Cross, Maiya Cutter and Ellis Davidson-Richards have not found a place in the team.
The tournament will be the first World Cup in the country under the guidance of the new captain Scivor-Bunt and head coach Charlotte Edwards. Australia won the title by defeating England in the final of 2022. Edwards said that playing for my country in the World Cup is one of the greatest honors of the game and I am very happy for all the players in the team.
The coach of England further said that, like all global tournaments, this will be a big challenge but we want to move as much as possible in India and I believe that if we play our best cricket, we can compete with anyone.
