Satish Golcha will be the new police commissioner of Delhi, will take place of SBK Singh, was handling the command of Tihar Jail

Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Satish Golcha has been appointed as Delhi Police Commissioner. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has given information about this. 1992 batch IPS officer Satish Golcha is currently posted as Director General (Prison) in Delhi. The order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on August 21 states that by the approval of the competent authority, Satish Golcha, IPS (AGMUT: 1992), who is currently posted as Director General of Delhi (Prison), is appointed to the post of Police Commissioner of Delhi till further orders from the date of taking charge.

Golcha, will replace SBK Singh, Director General of Home Guards, who was appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 1 August. The development took place on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta a day after the attack during the weekly public hearing held at his official residence in Civil Lines. Gupta was attacked by a 41 -year -old man from Rajkot in Gujarat, who entered inside as a complainant. Rajkot resident auto driver, accused Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai Sakariya was caught by the Chief Minister’s security team and others present there. An FIR has been registered against him under sections related to attempt to murder.

Who is Satish Golcha?

Satish Golcha has earlier worked as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Joint Commissioner and Special Commissioner of Delhi Police. During the riots in North-Eastern Delhi in 2020, he gained fame for his actions as Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order). He also served as Director General of Police (DGP) of Arunachal Pradesh from February 2022 to June 2023, after which he was shifted back to Delhi. In May 2024, Golcha was appointed as the head of Tihar Jail by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, based on the recommendation of the Police Establishment Board.
