After being introduced in the Lok Sabha by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday, ‘Constitution (one hundred and thirty -thirty -amended) Bill, 2025; The Government (Amendment) Bill of Union Territories, 2025 and Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2025 ‘was sent to the Joint Committee of Parliament. Before the Lok Sabha was postponed till 5 pm, Speaker Om Birla objected to the behavior of the opposition members. The chairman said that members should not reduce the dignity of the House. The chairman further said that people are watching. Opposition members objected to the introduction of the first three Bills.

The Bill was sent to a joint committee of houses, including 21 members of this House who will be nominated by the Speaker and 10 Rajya Sabha members who will be nominated by the Deputy Chairman. Earlier, in the day, opposition MPs had torn copies of three bills in the Lok Sabha towards Union Home Minister Amit Shah. There is a provision to remove allegations of corruption or serious crimes in these bills and remove the Prime Minister or Chief Ministers who have been detained for 30 consecutive days.

Shah introduced a bill amending the Constitution (one hundred and thirtyth amendment) Bill, 2025 and Union Territories to amend the Constitution of India, and also introduced a bill amending the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, besides the Government (Amendment) Bill of Union Territories. He also proposed to send these bills to a joint committee of Parliament. The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2025, attempts to amend Section 54 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019 to provide a legal structure to remove the Chief Minister or Minister in the event of arrest or custody due to serious criminal allegations.
