Roman Babushkin of the Russian Embassy in India criticized the tariff imposed by Donald Trump on India for purchasing Russian oil at a press conference and said the US pressure was unfair and unilateral. Putin’s visit date has not been decided yet. The incident took place a few days after the phone call between Prime Minister Modi and Putin, in which Putin discussed the recent meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska. Describing Trump as his “friend”, Prime Minister Modi said that India has consistently called for a peaceful solution of struggle in Ukraine and supports all efforts in this regard.

He wrote in a post on X that thanks to his friend, President Putin for sharing information about his phone call and his recent meeting with President Trump in Alaska. India has constantly called for a peaceful solution to the Ukraine dispute and supports all efforts in this regard. I hope for our continuous exchange in the coming days.

On the question of India stopping Russian oil purchases, Russian Deputy Ambassador Roman Babushkin said that we do not expect this to happen. Babushkin said that the US has made its economy armed. He further said that friends do not ban, Russia will never ban. Praising relations with India, the Russian embassy official mentioned two phones between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine’s position.
