US President Donald Trump is trying to bow to countries around the world through his tariff card. In this sequence, they are targeting India for purchasing oil from Russia. He has announced to impose tariffs of up to 25 percent and then 50 percent on India. Trump wants to intimidate and bow down India so that he will agree to make a trade deal on the terms of America. But instead of bowing to the US, India has chosen the way to face the tariff war. Apart from this, now a new grip is also seen taking shape. The intention of Russia and China, two of America’s staunch rivals Russia and China, have been with India to create a group RIC. Now India has also started taking steps in this direction. On one hand, the Chinese Foreign Minister is on a tour of India. At the same time, Russian President Putin, both before and after the meeting in Alaska from Trump, got a call to PM Modi and also informed about all the conversation. Here Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and now he has left for Russia. This visit of Jaishankar is taking place a few days after National Security Advisor Ajit Doval’s visit to Russia and bilateral energy and defense relations.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar leaves on Russia
Foreign Minister Jaishankar left for a three-day visit to Russia to further strengthen the India-Russia partnership on the criterion of time on Tuesday, August 19. The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) announced the visit of Jaishankar, saying that it would co-head the 26th session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation to be held on Wednesday. The latest initiatives of Trump administration are also expected to be discussed between Jaishankar and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavarov to bring peace to Ukraine. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a brief statement that during the visit, Foreign Minister will review the bilateral agenda with the Russian Foreign Minister and share his views on regional and global issues. The statement further stated, the purpose of this journey is to further strengthen the long-term and time-long India-Russia-special and privileged strategic partnership.

Timing is very important
The visit is taking place at a time when US President Donald Trump’s decision to double the fee to 50 percent on Indian goods is tension in Indo-US relations. This fee includes a fine of 25 percent imposed for the purchase of crude oil from Russia. The Ministry of External Affairs announced the visit of Jaishankar, saying that it would co-chair the 26th session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on business, economic, scientific, technology and cultural cooperation on Wednesday. It is believed that Jaishankar and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov will also discuss the latest initiatives of the Trump administration to bring peace in Ukraine.
