There has been no change in India’s attitude on Taiwan, government sources said on Tuesday. After a statement issued by China about the meeting between Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, which claimed that Jaishankar confirmed that Taiwan is part of China. Sources today said that there has been no change in our attitude on Taiwan. We emphasized that like the rest of the world, India has a focused relationship with Taiwan on economic, technical and cultural relations. We want to continue it. Wang, who arrived in New Delhi, met Jaishankar yesterday and co-headed the special representative level talks on the border issue with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval today.

Chinese government news agency Xinhua told that Jaishankar told the minister who visited China that “Taiwan is a part of China. No official statement has been received from the Ministry of External Affairs yet, but government sources have clarified that there has been no change in our attitude on Taiwan. According to sources, yesterday, during the meeting of India-China Foreign Ministers, when Wang Yi did not compromise with Taiwan, Chinese said that Chinese did not make any compromise with Taiwan. It is compromising in the same areas where we are doing in India, so how is this possible?

Wang Yi emphasized that India and China are implementing the consensus between the leaders of both countries, gradually exchange and dialogue at all levels, maintaining peace and harmony in the border areas, and Indian pilgrims are able to resume pilgrimage of holy mountains and lakes in Tibet Autonomous Region. According to Xinhua, Wang said that China-India relations are showing positive trends towards returning to cooperation. He emphasized that 2025 is the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between India and China, a lesson can be learned from the past and the two countries should be seen as partners and opportunities instead of considering each other as rival or threat and should invest their valuable resources in development and revival.
