Election Commission replied on allegations of ‘vote theft’, Rahul Gandhi’s allegations denied outright

Amid allegations of ‘vote theft’ and ‘stealing elections’ by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Election Commission held a press conference on Sunday. Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar denied these allegations and emphasized the fairness of the Election Commission.

Election Commission equal for all

Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar said that the Election Commission neither sees the opposition nor sees the ruling party, but equally. He said that according to the Constitution, every citizen above 18 years should be registered as voters. Since all political parties are registered in the Election Commission, there is no question of discrimination between them. He made it clear, “There is neither an opposition nor any ruling party for the Election Commission, because all are equal, and the Commission will not back down from its constitutional duty.”

Words like ‘Vote Theft’ insult the constitution

Targeting Rahul Gandhi indirectly, Dnyanesh Kumar said that some leaders are trying to mislead voters by giving false information and fear. He described words like ‘vote theft’ as an insult to the Constitution.

The Chief Election Commissioner said that the doors of the Election Commission are open to all and transparency is being done in the verification process. He informed that voters, political parties and booth level officials are also giving verification, signature and video admirers.

Dnyanesh Kumar expressed concern that these verified documents and admirers sent by the District Party Presidents and the nominated BLO are not reaching their state or national leaders, or they are being deliberately ignored. He said that this is being done to spread confusion.

The Election Commission’s reply has come at a time when there is a dispute about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar and the opposition is calling it an attempt to take away the rights of voters.
